One of the biggest misconceptions about teeth whitening is that the higher the percentage, the better the result.

More peroxide doesn’t necessarily mean better whitening

It can be tempting to think:

“If 6% works, surely 20% or 30% must work even better.”

But teeth whitening isn’t simply a case of more peroxide = better results.

The concentration, formulation, application time, treatment protocol and individual characteristics of the person’s teeth all play a role.

Philips’ own research includes studies specifically looking at 6% hydrogen peroxide and LED acceleration, with results showing a statistically significant improvement in shade change when the 6% hydrogen peroxide was used with the Philips Zoom LED system compared with 6% hydrogen peroxide without LED acceleration.
